Charlie's Shop - 22 September 2024

I was visiting Wales this weekend again and went to a big shop called Charlie’s. The shop had a bit of everything from biscuits to clothing to gardening and tools; of course it also had a big shelf of yarn but I was very restrained and didn’t buy anything.

They had already started displaying this year’s Christmas decorations although we still have Halloween left before the end of year celebrations.

Some of the display items were very attractive. I liked the teapot below with lots of light and moving glitter :

They described it as tea pot lantern and it was priced at £19.99 or around 120 Steem. I would not buy this type of decoration personally but I think it looked really appealing as it was set in a dark display cabinet together with other lights. Later on by chance I found that the same item can also cost £24.99 or about 150 Steem in a different shop. I guess that Charlie’s pricing wasn’t that bad there.

The biggest surprise I got was seeing these huge stuffed creatures. My initial thought was that they should be reindeer rather than rats. My friend insisted these gave her Rizzo the Rat vibes from the Muppets. The shop was selling these standing figures, which they called alpha rats, at £49.99 or around 300 Steem. Apart from the money involved I’d really think twice about buying such big figures as they would then need storage the rest of the year.

I was intrigued by these huge decorations and even went online later to find out whether or not I was missing something from TV. I also found very similar figures here under a different name and slightly cheaper. They were priced at £41.99 or around 252 Steem which is still expensive.

As you can see the shop was very keen on these huge standing figures. Depending on the size some of the decorations were £19.99 or nearly 60 Steem.

The biggest size I found was about 2 metres in height and the price on their website was a bit staggering; the Festive Mega Dinosaur is priced at £159.99 or around 960 Steem for a 2 metre figure. I’ll save my money and keep looking for nice yarn.
