- Central Administration > Application Management page
- Under the heading “Web Applications” click on Manage web applications.
- Click on New
- Enter the name of iis
- Enter port number. Example: port 80
- Enter host header
- Click "no" to allow anonymous, unless you want the site to be anonymous
- Click "no" use secure sockets layer (SSL), unless you want a secure https site
- Create a new application pool name
- Under configurable choose a web app service account and never use farm account
- Enter database server name
- Enter Database name
- Enter a failover database server name, only if you have one
- Click okay
- Pop up will show up with a link to create a site collection. Click on that link
- Enter name of the site
- Select your template
- Enter your primary and secondary administrator
- Click okay to finish
- now you can open the site by entering in the site url
