Shamelist Awards
The new official shame-list awards have been published on Steemit.

@craig-grant only made #2, I am sure he is disappointed he did not get the first spot. In the next round of the shame-list awards, I will be competing. After reading some of the article, I was disappointed I did not even place or get an honorable mention because I do vote for myself.
I do think if the witnesses want to "fix" this, it is there prerogative, and I am not totally against a hard fork change to make up-voting yourself less profitable. What I do not support is a new brand of Steemit shame police, baby-sitting our content and actions, and dumping on people for their behaviors authorized contractually by the blockchain. Implicit in the Steemit system is the ability to upvote yourself. People who bought Steem and joined the platform, bought it with this assumption and joined with this assumption. It is still our ability to do this behavior.
If the other people on the shamelist want to start flagging content with combined voting weight, I would fully support that too. On one hand, I do not like that because it censors content, on the other hand, it would be nice to turn this behavior on its head.
For me this is not about greed. This is about a system of social control placed on people to shame their behavior.
It is like someone snooping into your bank account saying they do not like how you conduct your business. Here is the question when they do this...
"Is it their business?"
On a public blockchain, they have every ability to snoop. I get it. On a public blockchain, we also have the right to flag them for snooping and making a shamelist over it, which I did. It is trolling in my book, even though most others wont see it that way.
And I would be more sympathetic if the person posting this was a whale concerned about the long-term health of STEEM and STEEMIT because he has so many millions invested, and he has spent so much time helping run the platform as a witness or something. That's different.
A minnow shaming people to make a name for himself and causing divisiveness by something that aught to be resolved through the blockchain process, is not something I look favorably at.
It is not a big deal, but me personally, I do not presume I own other people's upvote in a manner in which I have a right to dump on them by how they use it.
I think they should disable self voting and also make some rules where you can upvote the same person not more than 2 times a day.
Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by cricinfo from the Minnow Support Project. It's a witness project run by aggroed, ausbitbank, teamsteem, theprophet0, and someguy123. The goal is to help Steemit grow by supporting Minnows and creating a social network. Please find us in the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network (PALnet) Discord Channel. It's a completely public and open space to all members of the Steemit community who voluntarily choose to be there.
If you like what we're doing please upvote this comment so we can continue to build the community account that's supporting all members.
It makes one wonder why Steemit posts were originally designed to allow upvote of one's own post in the first place? However, if it is there, why not use it? If it is an issue, the Steemit team can alway change it, and I imagine this activity is already figured into the Steemit algorithms. Seems like much ado about nothing.
I think someone trying to tell you what to do with your money is ridiculous. To me, someone who has either invested their own money to acquire Steem Power or earned it through posting/commenting/curating should be able to do what they see fit with their influence. This, to me, is akin to censorship and control that we are subjected to by our governments all in the name of the greater good. Why their intentions might very well be good, some of the worst atrocities in history have been done with "good intentions".
Some people are forced to upvote themselves because the censorship police knocked their rep score to oblivion. No shame in recuperating from unwarranted, anti-free speech assaults. That's the biggest problem right now.
Well spoken Sir . Well enough that you got a UP from me .
Honestly, the whole self-vote drama and all of the "plans to ruin self-voters while simultaneously building a name for myself" people really turned me off of the platform for a while...I came here for decentralized discourse, not to be told how to allocate my resources.
Self voting is allowed by the system and people shouldn't judge. It's a very emotive subject and as you say it seems to me less powerful people have the issue. What happens when they have the power? Will they not do it? Hmmm?
It smacks of jealousy to me and that's the worst human trait.
Lighten up those who are whining about this issue, go do a decent post that contributes to the community and quit the negativity.
I came here for freedom and I'm happy to follow the guidelines of ethics and morals but no one is going to tell me what I can and can't do. I rarely upvote myself but have done for different reasons. It's my right!
If the system is changed to take away self voting that's ok to if its the consensus.
There is lots being said here . A fascinating place to be right now .
Its all very complicated for me this self voting thing. I thought at one time it was that upvote box when we submit a post then Sk told me its when you upvote your own comment.
I think I'm glad to be a little minnow for now. :)
Great post Ted! I am sure Community News had checked out your post when they published this (article 3)....

Correct. Upvoting yourself has been thete from day one ans is an incentive to build your Steem power and to power up through investment. Upvoting your own comments to others posts is a little bit of poor 'ettiquette' in my eyes but still within the rules. @eitsky makes a more valid point....plagiarism is once again flaring up...whete is that @cheetah oke??
