Throwing Shade

I've been hearing this saying a lot lately. Throwing shade on someone. I don't know how shade got such a bad reputation. I under the understand the context of blocking the life-giving rays of the sun. But shade can be a blessing. The shade of a tree on a hot day on a long walk. The shade of a house that sheltered me for close to 20 some odd years. The shade of clouds with life-giving rain that contributes to the abundance we have here. Throw some shade on me baby in the heat bring the clouds and bring the rain and bring the abundance
