Sex and technology are two terms that grow closer together. Never before has human sexuality been influenced by so much anonymity as it is today. Of course, it’s mostly due to the existence of technology, but also to the fact that the way sexuality is understood and lived has changed. I want to discuss this topic in a little more detail.

Technological progress has opened up new possibilities. It has undoubtedly led to entirely new forms of social exchange in all areas of life, including intimate experience.

Considering sexuality is such a significant part of a person’s life, every aspect associated with it should be acknowledged. In terms of technology, smartphone apps, social networking and the Internet are probably the most influential factors in general.

Meanwhile, almost everyone has their cell phone with them at all times, and yet we don’t talk on the phone any more than before. On the contrary, we tend to opt for more distant forms of communication. In this sense, evolution is progressing at such a pace that it is difficult to conduct studies and draw conclusions about how we handle technology before it becomes obsolete.

But there is no doubt that it has a significant impact on personal and social levels. And although it seems incredibly complicated, we should look ahead to the relationship between sex and technology, especially in terms of inappropriate or pathological behaviour.

Internet And Sex

The Internet is infinite, and with it, the number of websites and ads with sexual content. Both as a pastime and for informational purposes, the Internet is always preferred, even if that isn’t always appropriate.

Especially the younger generation, including teenagers and even younger children, share more and more sexual content on the world wide web. That seems interesting for several reasons, mainly because of the visual aspect and the small amount of time spent.

We exist in a society where people are increasingly focusing on visual stimuli.

Pornography

We can find sexual content in various formats. If we go scanning for it, we will immediately notice a rather large variety. Statistics also tell us that a lot of people of all ages are viewing pornographic content.

In contrast, it’s anything but harmless. For example, the shared and consumed pornographic content determines a person’s sexual expectations. In a sense, our brain seemingly can’t process and classify what’s just fiction.

Sexting

One of the practices that present sex and technology closely related and among the most dangerous is sexting. Especially teens and teenagers enjoy sexting. This practice consists of sending photos and videos with explicit sexual content, which are taken in the form of a selfie by mobile phone.

Even though it can boost adult sex life, sexting has become a dangerous suggestive game. Not only sexual desire increases but also the danger that the material gets into unwanted hands, and illegal and inappropriate content is spread.

Unfortunately, this practice of grooming can also end in perversion. A groomer is a person who tries to abuse minors by using social networks and related methods to connect with people who know nothing of their true identity. They don’t reveal their age or appearance to obtain explicit sexual material from their victims.
