Veganism, and addictions
People say eat meat it is good for you. Me personally I choose not to eat meat, or other animal by products because I don't want to be a vampire. I don't want to consume other animals in order to live. Animals have complicated nervous systems and they feel pain, and emotions.
It has been pretty easy for me to substitute plant based options into my diet, so far. Instead of chicken I use tofu. Instead of cow milk I use almond milk, which is just as delicious. I love packing my meals with vegetables and rice and potatoes are basically my staple. I also don't mind eating bread, but I think I should transition out of this, because bread might be made from eggs and milk.
There are a lot of ethical, environmental, and health benefits of veganism, but I don't really care to research it all. I personally don't want my body to be a grave yard for dead animals, and I don't want to absorb their stress hormones(or negative energy).
Am I perfect? Far from it... I am battling another addiction. I am addicted to pornography. It is much harder for me to quit, because I don't have a substitute for it, and it hacks natural reward systems of the body. It makes you feel good in the moment.
My strategy that I am going to take to quit pornography:
- Don't use internet when I am home alone.
- Don't use internet late at night, or early in the morning, or at 2pm.
- Try to go outside as much as possible.
- Meditate and be fully present in the moment.
If you guys have more tips on how I can overcome my addiction please post here. Giving up meat was kind of easy, though I still get the urge to eat it every now and then. Giving up porn is super hard for me.
