The Difficulty of Not Doing Something

Given that it is an absence of an action, i.e. something that you reject doing, shouldn't the so called no-fap practice come extremely easy to anyone that (doesn't do it?) does it?

Despite the easy logical exercise above, I still constantly hear people complaining that it is somehow "hard" thing (not to do?) to do. Check out the example comments below:

"I tried to go no fap, but I only lasted a day."

"I've now been actively doing the no fap for a month, and I'm thinking of killing myself."

"I can't understand how people do this! I tried for a week, then almost had a mental breakdown and I almost killed my sister-in-law!"

And the list just goes on and on, which boggles my mind.

"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehm, what now?"

Now, why is that? Here is an analogy for you:

1. Is not taking out the trash a hard thing to do?

2. Is not going to the store to do the monthly grocery shopping a difficult (non-)action to perform?

3. Is not trying to fix the car super hard and something anyone easily fails at? What, your hands magically start fixing the car?

I'd answer no to all of those questions. And that's where these people lose me when they speak of their silly exercise of "trying" not to "fap". It's literally saying you tried not to go outside during a blizzard to shovel the snow off the road, but you failed. How would that actually look like? So, you're lying in bed, thinking about the snow outside, know there's no reason for you to go out today because it's Saturday. You want to not do it, but somehow, through some magical witchcraft, you're magically teleported outside, a shovel magically pops into existence, your muscles magically start working all on their own, and this process continues until all the snow is gone? It has to be...

"Yes, because not doing something is really hard. I'm trying

really hard not to buy a Lamborghini right now, and I think

it's working!"
