Here's What We Know About "The Originals" Season 5

To recap, the fourth season ended when Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) placed part of the Hollow into each of the Mikaelsons, under the condition that they would never see each other again. Season five takes place during Mardi Gras, EIGHT years later.

Unfortunately, season 5 is going to be a lot shorter than the others. Whereas previous seasons have featured 22 episodes, this one will only have 13.

After over eight months of waiting since the season four finale, the trailer for season five was released with ACTUAL new footage — and it looks like a rollercoaster ride, as always! But you might notice that someone major is totally absent from the 30-second TV spot: Caroline! After all the buzz surrounding her return to The Vampire Diaries universe, fans were sure she would make an appearance, but you might have to wait a little longer for that!
