APPRECIATING YOUR SELF THE WAY YOU ARE:A letter to every fat and chubby girl

There’s a difference between being fat /chubby and being obese. Being fat is just having more flesh than a skinny person and doesn’t mean you’re overweight.

It’s easier to admire others than to admire yourself and look at yourself with pride and confidence. I’ll be using myself as a tool to reach every girl out there.

I am the third of five children and I haven’t always been the “Slim and Sexy one” out of my three sisters. Everyone would call me “Naomi the biggest of them all”.

When I’m walking with my elder sister ,am always asked if am older than her and I was always affected by this .

I know I’m not slim but when I look into the mirror I do not see my self as fat either but other people would always see me and call me fat. I started becoming insecure about my weight and feeling that being fat is a shame and not something to be proud of. At some point in my life, I had to turn to slimming tea but I didnt really see any changes. When I finally gained admission into the University, I said to myself “thank God,at least with all the stress from reading, I’ll definitely slim down”.In my first year although I lost weight, it wasn’t visible enough for everyone else to see, you know that kinda weight that you lose and you’re the only one who gets to notice it, maybe because your skirt starts falling from your waist, but that wasn’t what I wanted. When I got back home for holidays ,I was still called the same fat girl.But after much worries about my weight,I left everything the way it was and let nature take its toll and I said to myself again “people are starting to talk about my weight and I wouldn’t change my size because they do not like how I look”

At times I wonder why the society now values slim girls more than fat girls .I have even seen some cases of when a girl is rejected by a guy she has a crush on because she is fat, even in highschool, she’s not able and confident enough to go to prom because she’s fat and won’t fit into the circle .The orientation of the society is so wrong because fat girls are beautiful. There are different body sizes,everyone on earth can’t be slim and the society shouldn’t look down on girls with skin because they can also slay too. If I were a boy I’d even prefer chubby girls to skinny girls. If a guy really loves you, he’ll appreciate you and accept you the way you are and how you look.

I have taken statistics and seen that chubby girls,curvy/fat have the perfect shape too and they are also good in clothes too.

The fact that you’re fat and chubby doesn’t mean you’re not good enough, you’re perfect and good in all ramifications and you shouldn’t let the world classify you and put you in a box just because of your body size. The way you treat yourself,sets the standards for others on how they see and treat you ,if you do not respect and appreciate your self you won’t care for yourself the way you should. If you are concerned about what everyone says about your weight that’s when you’ll give them a reason to laugh at you .When everyone says you’re fat just smile and say ; it’s evidence of good living.

Being fat doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear good clothes and be beautiful too. You can be fat and have flat tummy too,you don’t have to be skinny to have that. Be proud of whom you are and not ashamed of how someone else sees you,because if you do not love yourself others won’t love you too .The only reason you’re fat is because a tiny body couldn’t store all your personalities.

If a girl wants to work out it should be of her own volition not because of the stigma from being fat and not because she’s being laughed at.
