A guy was breaking into the window of an eighteen-year-old girls room. Her mom had a gun and managed to stop him by shooting him in the leg.
Dude-man is charged with burglary. There doesn't seem to be evidence -- now -- that he had...ahem...other intentions regarding the girl. Still, I catch someone trying to break in while my niece is in the room, dude-man is gonna get shot.
Imagine how wrong this could have gone if this woman didn't have a gun.
You've got a man -- a home invader -- who is younger than I am, and clearly somewhat physically able, breaking into the room of a teenage girl with only her mother to as backup.
This is why we need guns. This is why women need guns. This is why men who support gun control shouldn't be trusted by women.
