Ready to Reinvent Yourself?

Reinventing yourself and your life might seem overwhelming and even impossible. It’s not always easy to change ideas and habits that you’ve had your entire life, but with time and practice, it is possible. Here are five tips for-reinventing yourself.

1. Examine your relationships

If you want to reinvent yourself, you need to pay attention to the company you keep. If you want to be a positive person, you can’t be surrounded by negative people. You are most like the people you spend the majority of your time with. If you spend your time with whiners, complainers, and gossips, it’s easy for you to participate in those behaviors. When you want to reinvent yourself, surround yourself with the kind of people you want to be like.

2. Break bad habits

If you continue with the same habits you’ve had for much of your life, you won’t be reinventing yourself. Determine which habits you’ve always wanted to change and figure out how you can approach changing them. If you want to stop biting your nails, decide that you’ll reward yourself with a manicure if you can stop biting them for one full month. It will be difficult at first because you won’t even realize when you’re biting your nails. After years, it’s become a natural habit, but these kinds of habits can be broken.

3. Reinvent your environment

The places you spend the majority of your time can impact how you feel about yourself and your life, so you want to make sure they are uplifting spaces. Clutter can make you feel stressed and overwhelmed even if you don’t realize it. If your home is filled with clutter, removing it will clear-not only your space, but your mind as well. You will walk into your home and be greeted with a completely different feeling. If your work space is dark and dreary, find ways to lighten it up. Add another lamp and some plants. If you’ve been living with a style of decor that isn’t you anymore, change it up. Never feel obligated to stick with the same decor for years simply because you spend money on it.

4. Change the way you talk to yourself

You are the most important person in your life, so you should always talk to yourself in a positive and optimistic way. Remind yourself on a daily basis of your strengths, talents, and endearing qualities. You may have a habit of speaking to yourself in negative terms. Replace these phrases and ideas with positive ones. Repeat to yourself, as many times as you need to, such things as “I can achieve anything I set my mind to” and the like. Positive affirmations can change the way you think about yourself, others, and the world.

5. Be aware of how you spend your time

Part of reinventing yourself means changing how you spend your time. If you spend too many hours a day watching TV, begin swapping some of that time with more healthy activities such as taking a brisk walk, working out at the gym, or reading a book. If you want to spend less time on your phone, keep it in a drawer a few hours each day. You will realize that you don’t need it to entertain you. You will find other things to do with your time. If you have a goal that you want to achieve, begin spending at least 30 minutes each day working on it.Reinventing yourself and your life requires willpower and practice. It won’t be easy, but the outcome will be worth the effort.
