Signs of Hope
Yesterday I was admiring photos of apple blossoms from Vancouver Island, longing for being able to see the same thing here. I checked out our apple trees today and it looks like we are getting closer <3 <3 <3
Kiedis is always excited about nature and gardening, he appreciated the flower buds too.

They go back to school in a couple days, I'm gonna miss these guys we had a great break together. I'm constantly amazed at how well they get along, and super grateful. I know all Moms say it, but I got the best boys in the world.

Today's eggs. Now, even though the #chickenbitchez have 6 nesting boxes, this is where they lay their eggs (well, besides the ones outside). Half in one nesting box, and half on the floor. Smh...

Beautiful pictures displaying the hope and promise of spring @lyndsaybowes Our signs seem to have gone into hiding .. we even had a snow day yesterday so these signs of life are giving me hope of respite from a winter that never seems to end lol .. I love the snow, but I'm now longing for spring .. thank you for sharing :D

I am constantly looking for buds on our trees as well. During our cold and outtage, I'd take a break and go to my little inside plants growing in their little greenhouse and think of Spring. I'm trying a new thing this year and am growing pots of those mixed wildflower seed boxes you usually spread on the ground and sow driectly, but starting early indoors. They are like a little lawn of green differing foliage and really give the old grey cold Winter mood a boost. I wish I had filled every window sill with them now, and luckily they made it through the thre days of outside temps we had inside.
What a joy it must be with your boys. It's funny, we decided not to have children, being horriblly selfish, but when I was young I always had this feeling I would have one son. Must have been an odd day dream unless you count an aging chihuahua as a son (which I sort of do). But still, it must be fun to watch your children grow from infant to young men. I bet they have a blast running out there. This blog will probably be so precious to them when they are older, as we only had photo albums, they will have endless images, videos etc. Funny to think of what the future old people will have to 'look back on'. Now I'm waxing sentimental, so I'll stop.
My hens always lay in the same box too, though lately my polish has been laying on the floor of the chicken house? You never know. And some of the quail have begun to lay in their run, which I heard is actually more the norm for them. I found a little cluster under one of the upturned pieces of bark I give them to 'play in' it was sweet, like Easter morning, but of course they won't sit on them, I wish they'd go broody, but it was just breed out of em years and years ago I guess.
Is big smokie a favorelle? Or if a mix does he have favorelle in him?

Smokie is has easter egger/ameraucana parents, yet the blonde he has definitely looks favorelle-ish!! One of his grandparents perhaps was...
Thank God it is Spring here where I live. Must be nice to have fresh eggs every morning. I would like to raise chickens for egg someday on my own homestead.

Oh, there are always the odd setback here in Edmonton around March when it comes to the weather. It’s never all uphill as we go into spring.
Not sure if you can tell in this picture that I just took, but it’s snowing right now. And that’s ok. It’s still March. As long as we have more days above 0 degrees, you know that despite all the days the weather may take a step back, there will be more days where the weather will be moving forwards over the long term.
This is life up north!
Yep, I remember it well, lived there for 8 years <3 <3 <3 April snowstorms happen, same with May long weekend, yet there are those +20 degree days in April too <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 I'm shaking my fist at your snow!!!! Telling it where to go!
