Lobbying in America must be one of the most powerful in the world to forbid this fundamental privacy right that much.. I am greatful to be in Europe right now (even if GAFA are not really bothered to sell our data for more than the fine they receive in return)!

Yes, yes it is! Lobbyists can be tremendously powerful here. Some would say, far too powerful because they are not representative of the overall good, but instead just the position of those with power/money (like big businesses)
