Hubzilla - video introduction to decentralized identity, communications, and permissions framework
Hubzilla is an open source project which creates interconnected websites featuring a decentralized identity, communications, and permissions framework. It is a solid replacement for many Google services, Facebook, Photo/File Hosting sites etc. This is a video I made that steps you through setting up an account and a very basic introduction to the project.
I will be making several videos about steps you can take to protect your privacy, and unplug from the massive corporate and government surveillance being conducted on us. Hubzilla is a great first step in the right direction for privacy. I will be hosting these videos on alternatives to youtube in the future but I wanted this particular video to be very accessible as it is aimed at a starter person who is just starting to unplug from the evil that is the giant corporate centralized Internet.
Pleas upvote and follow if you are interesting in tutorials and videos to promote personal privacy and security and how to unplug from the mass global surveillance and exploitation of our data that is happening now.
Interesting proposal Michael..... good to have different options for networking.
@handmade steemit is great for content creation and public reach - hubzilla is a good replacement when you need identity for sharing content you do not want to be public and also for filesharing, calendar, websites, wiki, chat, etc. It allows granular security control over your content without needing to trust third parties if you run your own server or with a limited and understood third party trust if you use someone else's server. The ability to share what content you want with who you want, without a company in the middle like Google, or Facebook who introduces another party who is being secretly forced to give up your information is a big deal.
