Why the 2nd amendmant matters
Its important to understand why the founders of this country enacted the second amendment in the first place.
On March 5, 1770 british imperial soldiers of the king of england engaged and shot a mob of unarmed protesters. The cause of which was to enforce a controversial law at that time known as the Townshed Act. This event caused a rift between the crown and colonial subjects of the american colonies.
The subsequent of events caused a distrust from the american colonials, with the abuse of power by the british government which would steadily grow and would lead to the start of the american revolution in 1775.
The second amendment is a important part of our "bill of rights" as it protects our god given right to self preservation from unjust abuses of power from our government and also protects us from invasions and criminal intent. There are about 42% of the american population owns a firearm in 2017.
U.S. citizens buy guns for sports, hunting, and for self defense protection. The last reason is the most important one that people buy firearms for the more critical reason why U.S. citizens buy guns.
The second amendment protects the defenceless from dangerous live threatening situations it at its core is why the second amendment is important and must be protected.
