Free schools as a solution to school truancy in Japan

If you have ever felt frustrated with the education system, then you already have some inkling of a frustration with the Japanese school system. There are systemic problems which includes bullying, competition and social judgement. What's troubling too, is how there is a decrease in overall suicide rate in Japan, but an increase in the younger demographic. It does beg the question, what are we doing to them, and what are we doing for them?

Suicide is not the only problem caused by this "difficult schooling experience". Futoko is a recent phenomenon where students find themselves unable to attend school, usually circumstantial. Every child that loses education has their future threatened, which in turn affects our future.

A rather surprising solution? Free schools. And there are a few reasons why these places work, mainly because of acceptable without expectations. This, is such a human need. One which many societies need to remind themselves.
