Learn How To improve Your Relationship with God Through Love
The first purpose of the Agape love of Jesus (God’s kind of love) is to enable us to have fellowship or communion or a good relationship with God. God gave us His love nature for relationships. This love is a free gift. God gave us this free gift because He knows that we cannot love Him with human kind of love. Human love is conditional but God’s kind of love is an UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
God has always desired that we will be friends with Him. He created Adam and Eve with this in mind. That was why God will always come to meet them at the Garden of Eden at the cool of the evening. This happens continually until the treason was committed by Adam and Eve and they were driven out of the Garden of Eden. After Adam and Eve, God still had some people in the Old Testament that He called His friends. People like Moses, David, etc.
Look what Jesus told His disciples in John 5:15; "I don't call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn't know what his master is doing. But I've called you friends because I've made known to you everything that I've heard from my Father."
God doesn’t want to relate with us as servants but He wants to relate with us as friends because as friends we will have access to deep divine revelations. God does not want to keep us at dark when it comes to spiritual truths. This was why He gave us His kind of mind; (But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16). God wants to relate with you as a good father relates to His son. This relationship will never be effective if you don’t have his kind of love in your spirit.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17. God did not bother to renovate or amend our spiritually dead spirit at new birth rather He gave us a brand new spirit that has all God's attributes (…to the spirits of just men made perfect, Hebrew 12:23).
This brand new spirit came with God’s love nature which its primary purpose is to enable us to relate with God and relate with our fellow men. If God did not bring us to the same level as Him, it will be impossible for us to relate with Him.
Look at what God said in Hebrew 13:5; “…God has said, "I will never abandon you or leave you.” God wants to build a perpetual relationship with you. This is why He is always with you. The more you stay together with a person, the better you will know the person.
How do you develop a relationship with God?
A. Constant conversation. “Pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18. David always tells God how you feel. Pour out your heart to Him. Don’t hide anything from Him. Bring Him into every aspect of your life at all times. Proverbs 16:3 said: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed”
B. Meditation: Psalm 119:97; “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long”.
Psalm 1:2; “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law, he meditates day and night”.
Joshua 1:8; “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”.
Think about God and his word always.
