It's looks more like a mission aborted and wasn't at all a team with the "unmentioned man" . I believe this is not the end of the story, yet to know his success tracing home and probably the conspiracy that might have envelope in his point of mission. Nice story as it relates greatly on the background, giving the reader a scene for imagination
You seemed to be the most invested in this story, so I think you'll be pleased to know that I'm actively planning a second part to this story (which I haven't done yet for short-stories!) so stay tuned :)
