NASA discovers planetary system similar to the Sun
NASA announced on Thursday (14) the discovery of a planetary system similar to that of our Sole located approximately 2,500 light-years from Earth.
Like ours, the system has eight planets, orbiting the Kepler-90 star, and was found from data from a Kepler telescope mission conducted between 2009 and 2013, analyzed by Google's innovative artificial intelligence program.
The system mimics the network of neurons in the human brain, and thanks to an automatic learning mechanism, is able to recognize the brightness variations of the stars recorded by Kepler, which indicate the passage of a planet.
"We are just thrilled to think of the discoveries still hidden in Kepler's data files, waiting for instruments and technologies to find them," said Paul Hertz, director of NASA's astrophysics division.
