RE: #sciencepic Drug analytics - Test Samples
Nice explanation. I found that Mandelin reagent is actually a Mo(VI) reagent, and we had been using phosphomolybdic acid, which is another Mo(VI) as a stain routinely in our lab. This stain is a strong oxidizing agent which give lots of color when come across different chemicals!
Yeah that's why I think those color tests are a great way to get an idea of what you might be dealing with but nothing more. Those reactions are just not specific enough for anything more. The least you could do to be more certain would be a suitable TL with a reference to confirm your idea afterwards.
What are you working on in your lab? Analytics aswell or something different?
I am doing chemical biology in my lab. So basically I need to do organic synthesis and some biology at the same time. We use a number of stains for TLC to help visualizing some compounds, which actually similar to what you are doing
I had been working on various colorful compounds in my project. I am currently sharing some fun on colors and glowing chemistry that I worked on/play with! Feel free to follow me :D
