Now that was an interesting series. And I am not even biased because of the subject. :D As for other strange ants, the only thing I can think of right now are the raft-making ants. I believe they are fire ants, and they attach in a big, living clump and float in water during floods. Not as weird as the ones you describe but definitely interesting. Again, not biased at all. :)
