NATURE'S T-HORNY FLOWER LOVE-Crown of Thorns
The Euphorbia milii, also known as the Crown of Thorns shows the beauty in the defense, as showcased by nature.
The Crown of Thorns or Christ plant or Christ thorn is a flowering plant species , belonging to the spurge family Euphorbiaciae, believed to have evolved in Madagascar.
The religious speciality of the plant is that legend describes it as a part oft the crown of thorns worn by Christ.
Botanists have found the Euphorbia milii to be a variable species with many variants. Few of them are:
- Euphorbia milii var. bevilaniensis
- Euphorbia milii var. hislopii
- Euphorbia milii var. imperatae
- Euphorbia milii var. tananarivae
- Euphorbia milii var. vulcanii
The Euphorbia milii var.splendens is known to be the living embodiment of the supreme deity in Bathouism.
The flower is shown above. Bathouists are a minority religion practiced by the Bodo people of Eastern India and Nepal.
The species is not edible and in fact contains poison in its sap.
