Super Cool Science Bounty - Suggest a great topic & win STEEM!

in #science6 years ago

If you've followed me for very long at all, you probably know about my Super Cool Science S#!t series.

It is by far the most fun part series I've written, and it's certainly been my most "successful", attracting votes from curation groups like @curie and @steemstem more than 75% of the time. I've written 24 of these posts, covering a wide range of topics from many fields of science.

I like to take a really interesting topic, and explain it in a fun and simple way that the average reader might be able to grasp. I always wished my science teachers in school could be a little more enthusiastic about a subject that's so interesting.

I've had a ton on my mind lately, and in my current state, I'm having trouble coming up with interesting topics to write about. That's where you come in. Write a comment below sharing a Super Cool science topic you'd like to see me explain, and if I like your idea enough to include it in my series, I'll reward you for it!

Here are the details:

  • Suggest a science topic in the comments. You can suggest as many topics as you can think of.

  • If I like your suggested topic, I'll put it on my list to-do, and you will be awarded 1 STEEM (per topic chosen).

  • On top of the bounty, when the post about your suggested topic is written, you will receive 25% of the liquid reward I earn for it!

  • No upvote, follow, or share will be required to participate, though shares will help me find more people to suggest topics, which could lead to a steady flow of articles.

I'm looking for things to write about that will make my readers say "WOW!"

Check out this post for a list of all the topics I've written about so far, and let me know if you have something Super Cool I could add to the list!

Can you explain what happens in our bodies when we experience super human strength in emergencies, or the way our brains can produce and release MDMA and other compounds that are similar or the same as opioids, etc under the right training/conditions?

I’ve also always been pretty fascinated by the crystalline structure of chocolate and how it behaves when it’s tempered correctly. That might be a fun topic.

Well, the answer is not inside accepted science.

When you lift weights, you not only become stronger, the weights become lighter.
It is a belief thing.

Not only can your muscles work far more efficiently, but when something needs 'doing' and your belief in that 'doing' is stronger than your belief in gravity, then you can lift that car off your child.

And yes, it can be trained.

When I think of the words believe and belief, I tend to associate them with prior contemplation and/or experience. With that in mind, I imagine that a person wouldn’t really be stopping to think about their beliefs and assumptions when faced with an emergency like having to lift a car off a child. Because of that, it’s hard for me to grasp the way you’ve explained the above comment.

I open to it, though. How can what you are speaking of be trained?

I really like both of those ideas!

The super human strength could be a very fun post to put together, and I've been thinking about doing more about food to accompany the article about salt, so the molecular structure of chocolate will fit right in! 😁

2 STEEM headed your way!

Thanks! I look forward to reading your posts!

Oh that's a really good one! The super human strength one.

Thanks. I’ve always been interested in that, but have never taken the time to research it or try to understand how it works.

Neither have it's struck my interest a few times. Had my fair share of experiences with adrenaline. None really on the side of strength.

How have you experienced adrenaline? I can’t say that I ever have, but to be honest, I’m not sure.

I can guarantee you've experience adrenaline, every day of your life in fact.

Adrenaline is a chemical released in response to fear, and also regulates many bodily functions and processes. "Goosebumps" on your arms when you get cold are actually caused by Adrenaline as well, making the hair follicles swell so the hair will stand straight and trap air to create a warm shield for your skin.

Science is ridiculous :D

Got one for you after glancing over the recap. Super novas!

I really thought I had already done one about novae, but the one I was thinking is about nebulas.

Super Novae it is!

gravity model or electric universe model?

Gravity is a very interesting topic that might honestly surprise some. Thanks for the suggestion!

I would like to read about TAXONOMY - the under-understood scientific discipline. First - about naming species. But deeper, and maybe more interesting, identifying species. I have seen some 'AI' plant identifiers, but it really takes a great guide and a knowledgeable biologist to identify a lot of species we are working with (both birds and plants personally).

I am very interested in the future of identification, and the future of taxonomy.

Whoops! Should have read that post with the list...CRISPR was #2.

haha! CRISPR is amazing. I've thought about doing a sort of "update" on the technology, as there have been many recent breakthroughs, even since my post was written.
