China makes key breakthrough in artificial sun research - Fusion Energy
Scientists in China have said they have set a world record by achieving 101.2 seconds of steady-state H-mode operation of the Tokamak. The Tokamak is an experimental device designed to harness the energy of the sun, fusion. The deice is called the Experimental Advanced Super-conducting Tokamak or EAST. This is the first time a group of scientists with their fusion device have had it running for more than 100 seconds straight. Last year EAST broke the world record of 60 seconds.
