These are the evidences that on Mars there were ancient giant tsunamis by: Sui$boy
Few argue today that the planet Mars was once a world full of water. It is estimated that its northern hemisphere was a huge ocean. But scientists have been looking for evidence of their existence for years and were searching for the coastline.
That is why we are pleased to report that a team of researchers from the Planetary Science Institute of Arizona, in the United States, led by the scientist Alexis Rodríguez, could have found the evidence of two ancient megatsunamis that took place on Mars.

Why could not you find the coastline of the ocean of Mars?

Apparently, the huge walls of water that formed the Martian megatsunamis scattered the sediments throughout the entire planet, completely erasing any evidence of coastline that the ocean could have.
According to Alexis Rodríguez, "for more than a quarter of a century it had failed to identify the coastline consisting of a distribution along constant elevations that were inconsistent with the hypothesis of a vast ocean existing on the planet 3 ago, 4 billion years ».
Now, the discovery of the team of researchers offers a simple solution to the problem of evidence of the coastline. Huge tsunamis distributed the deposits in a wide group of elevations that characterize the beaches of the ancient oceans of Mars.
The causes of megatsunamis:
The causes of the megatsunamis that took place on Mars were due to the impact of two asteroids separated by a few million years in time. These phenomena created craters on the ocean floor about 30 kilometers in diameter.
The result of the impacts of the asteroids resulted in the formation of tsunamis of about 120 meters high that extended to a distance of about 250 kilometers.

The first tsunami had to distribute rocks far from the original beach line. But the most disastrous was the second, which would cause a rapid climate change that transformed much of the water into ice. As a result, it transported ice water that traveled like ice in suspension.
How Martian megatsunamis have been discovered:
Although the future colonizers that arrive to Mars will be able to investigate in situ the deposits left by the megatsunamis, at the moment they have been evidences in two regions with plains in the north of the planet. Using thermal images of the soil, two beach lines that should have existed 3.4 billion years ago have been proposed.
However, the researchers do not believe that they were the only manifestations that made the coastal lines disappear and that they allowed their atmosphere to be lost. Maybe other tsunamis caused by different impacts, huge earth displacements or earthquakes should also play an important role in this story.
But the most exciting part of this finding is to think that perhaps in one of these regions where it is known that there was water there may be evidence of ancient life on Mars. The pieces of ice could contain icy signatures of a brackish ocean that perhaps was full of life. If this theory is confirmed, new doors will be opened to the investigation of Mars.
