To Prove The Earth's Flat Theory, This Man Fly Climb up His Artificial Rocket.
Mike Hughes is a self-taught scientist and strongly believes that the earth is flat. Although many are opposed, Mike Hughes has now gone further.
He is very confident and actually builds his own rocket to fly over the earth to prove that the earth is not round.
Mike, built a 'steam powered' rocket using metal and eventually spent about 20,000 US Dollars or about 275 million Rupiah for the rocket.
He also wanted to prove it by recording the action through a video that is distributed online.
Unfortunately, the video was used only to reveal that the flight into orbit is short enough.
His journey lasted only about 4 seconds before he landed aloud in the Mojave Desert.
After this incident, some people assume that Mike could have jumped off the plane and reached the same height where he could see extensively the shape of the earth.
After getting a medical examination, Mike said:
I'm bored with people who say I'm scared and do not make rockets. I'm tired of that. I went and did it. Source: tribun
After a very hard landing, 61-year-old Mike, who worked as a limousine driver, claimed that his back was crushed.
Tragic fate is not just there. In the event of a collision, the homemade rocket was destroyed. Mike made it over the last few months. But Mike acknowledged that the landing was a nickname.
He said:
This object wants to kill you in 10 different ways. Am I glad I did it? Yes, of course. I will feel it in the morning. I will not be able to get out of bed. But at least I can go home and have dinner and see my cat tonight. Source:
Mike rejected the belief that the earth was round and his flight was sponsored largely by a group called 'Research Flat Earth'.
He spent months building his rocket. Mike also made the launch pad from the modified garage.
It is estimated that Mike reached a speed of 350mph and a height of 1,875 feet before the parachute, which was reportedly supplied by NASA, deployed to allow rocket-landing to be relatively safe.
Speaking to the Associated Press last year, Mike said:
I don't believe in science. I know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move in the air, about the size of a certain rocket nozzle, and the thrust, but it's not science, it's just a formula. There is no difference between science and science fiction. Source: Associated Press
Before the flight, Mike claimed his goal was to fly high enough to gather evidence to deny the theory of the Earth's round.
In an interview with The Daily Plane a website for 'Flat Earther', Mike said that he just started believing this theory recently.

Didn't get high enough to prove anything one way or the other, though, so I'm not sure exactly what the point of this was. :)

As of last week or so he was still denying the earth was round, but it looks like he's planning to go back up with larger rockets that will actually get him into space. Which means, I guess, this was more of a test run than actual opportunity to observe anything. So, at least it sounds like he's concerned for his safety.
He's quoted in a Forbes article as saying that the doesn't believe in science, but he does know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move through the air. Maybe that's supposed to mean he's okay with science within the earth's atmosphere, but not so much outside of it. Science ends where space begins?
I keep running into articles or posts about/from these folks. I didn't realize there were people who believed the earth was more like a disc, or at least flat, and I didn't realize that there were more than one. It's amazing what I learn around here.
I'm amazed that this guy is still alive.
That image of him being loaded into the back of an ambulance reminds me of Doc Brown from the Back to the Future movies, which is unfortunate, because Doc was a true man of sound, safe, science. :)
