I always remember a story our college science teacher told us about someone having a worm - I think he'd said it was a tape worm - which had had to be extracted from his body in the same way as you mentioned above - slowly, and wrapping it around a stick as it came out. I can only begin to imagine how gross that would be, not only physically but mentally as well.
