• The world's first head transplant will take place at the Harbin Medical University in China.

• Neurosurgeon Sergio Canavero(in picture) will be conducting the operation using a revolutionary method devised by him.

• He will be assisted by Dr Xiaoping Ren and his team from Harbin Medical University.

• Valery Spiridonov, the first volunteer for the surgery had pulled out.
