On 5th July 1996,world´s first cloned mammal born it was a female sheep. Biologist Keith Campbell, Ian Wilmut and colleagues at the Roslin Institute,Scotland achieved this by the technique of somatic cell nuclear transfer.

Technically dolly had three mothers.Dolly lived for 6 years and was mother of six lambs.
In February 2003, she died of lung disease and severe arthritis.
