RE: A new variety of yeast that acts like a bacteria causing havoc. Is there more to it than meets the eye?

in #science6 years ago (edited)

Great work @jimbobbill and I think you are onto something with regards to the vaccines .. I'm also pondering antibiotics, a side effect of their use is often a yeast infection, could their over use gradually create a more virulent yeast that shares similar properties to antibiotic-resistant bacteria? i.e their resistance is obtained via a similar process and substance .. hence the comparison.

Yeast is a fungus, but C. auris is behaving like a bacterium — in fact, like a bacterial superbug.

Thanks for reading and commenting @perceptualflaws. That's an interesting thought I hadn't considered. One thing is for sure, the overuse of antibiotics in humans and animals is certainly not good.

I read somewhere the other day that it takes the body months to recover and build up the gut bacteria to previous levels after taking a course of antibiotics and they are finding more and more evidence of how important gut bacteria are to the immune system.

Hey @jimbobbill yes gut bacteria is hugely important .. due to diet and antibiotics this bacteria is under attack but it's essential and indicative of our overall health. We carry pretty much every disease within our bodies and it's our gut health that keeps them at bay. Equally by the time most people reach 40 they're suffering with varying degrees of leaky gut .. this means that you can have a great diet but the vast majority of the nutrients are flushed out and not absorbed by the gut .. a healthy bacteria balance is essential in allowing said absorption. I would recommend buying your own kefir grains to address the balance .. if you want any info let me know. Thanks again my friend.
