Today I Found Out ---- Snails have more than 10,000 teeth
So it seems that this little creature that I always see eating the lettuce plant in my backyard has more chomper than it would suggest.
Putting into comparison, humans only have 32 teeth.... that's .0032 that of a snail. However, a snail's teeth are microscopic and are organized into approximately 100 rows of 100 teeth. Their inward facing direction seem to help the snail grip on to food and the large number of teeth helps it munch better. To me it seems like such an overkill to have this many teeth on such a snail and slow creature. But hey, it had to adapt for a reason.
Additional fun fact for those who made it this far: the limpet (an aquatic snail ), has teeth that are made of the strongest biological material. YES, the teeth on this creature :
is stronger than Kevlar fiber, the material used in bullet proof vests. So yeah... snail teeth are pretty damn interesting.
