history of the embryo of the typewriter
dated 23 July 1829, william austin burt from mount vernon, michigan, united states, obtained a patent for his "typographer" with our patent number no 5581x. this burt design became the forerunner of a typewriter known later. however, the fire of 1836 destroyed the original burt patent model.

later, based on a copy of the original patent, austin burt, the inventor's great-grandson, created a model exhibited at chicago's world's fair in 1893. burt searched for a name that deserved his creation, but ultimately reluctantly retained the name "typographer". the shape of a wooden box with a lever to print.
although burt creations attract many people and are able to type clearly and cleanly, yet "typographer" does not achieve commercial success.
