Will Humans Become Immortal?
Death is the ultimate obstacle that humans attempt to conquer. As much as hygiene and medicine progress, death always appears as an invincible enemy.
There are attaempts on several fronts to impart humans with immortality. One method is to preserve the body immediately after death using cryogenic technology so that some day when medicine has become much more advanced than today it can be revived and brought back to life.
Another speculation is to create a mechnism to upload all the information stored in the brain structure unto a digital media. This couldd effectively create a replica of the mind on the machine.
Hypothetically, if someday we really gain immortality, what will happen? Will we be happy? This is a serious philosophical question. The real problem is that in our current mindset, it seems the value of anything is determined by its scarcity. If something is ubiquitous, it is usually worthless. If we live forever, we may not perceive our life as precious as we do now.
I think that consciousness is an energy that will be understood at one point and we will be able to "store" it in something else than the body. A very interesting question is how would two entities upload in the digital world interact, what do you think?
PS: I also wrote a post regarding this, but with deeper implications:

Great job.thanks for share.
The best possible invention or creation of human
What would be really cool is if the life of humans could be prolonged up to 100-120 years, I’m no sure I would want to be immortal though hehe
It's a matter of when rather, there's no doubt that humans will find a cure for dying of old age.
Ant in my opinion, that's the day humans will become truly brave, travel the universe like how we travel the globe now, well at least some of us will.
it really depends on your definition of immortality, and of course, you can't talk about that without defining what is human. I mean, sure, my downloaded brain on a computer could live forever, but, is that alive? if is not, then how can it be immortal if is not alive.? The real question is defining what alive is and what human is, then we ask if we are indeed immortal or not
