NUMBER: Symbols used to express numbers are called numbers. Our numbers are 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9.
NUMBER: Expressions formed by the combination of numbers to indicate a multiplicity are called numbers. Like 0,1,1000,….
NOTE: Each number is a number, but not every number is a number.
Counting Numbers: The elements of the set {1,2,…, n, ..} are called count numbers.
Natural Numbers: Numbers starting from zero and going to infinity are called natural numbers. The set of natural numbers is denoted by N. So N = {0,1,2,…, n, ..}
Positive Natural Numbers: Numbers starting from 1 and going to infinity are called positive natural numbers. It is denoted by N +. So N + = {1,2,…, n, ..}
NOTE: The set of counting numbers and the set of positive natural numbers are the same set.
Integers: We call the set {… -n,…, -1, 0, 1,…, n,…} integers in mathematics science. The set of integers is denoted by Z.
Negative Integers:The set {… -n,…, -1} is called the set of negative integers. It is denoted by Z-.
Positive Integers: The set {1, 2,…, n, ...} is called the set of positive integers. It is denoted by Z +.
The set of integers; consists of negative integers, positive integers, and combinations of zero. So Z = Z + U Z- U {0}
NOTE: Zero is an integer. But there is no sign.
Rational Numbers:Numbers that can be written as a / b, with a and b being integers and b, nonzero, are called rational numbers. The set of rational numbers is denoted by Q.
Irrational Numbers: Irrational numbers are non-rational numbers, that is, numbers that cannot be written as a / b. The set of irrational numbers is denoted by Q '.
Real Numbers: The new set of numbers consisting of the combination of rational numbers and irrational numbers is called the set of real numbers or real numbers. It is denoted by the letter R.
