Mount Sinabung volcanic ash up to my town

Today Sinabung volcano erupts again, actually, the eruption of Sinabung mountain has occurred several years ago, why is this so interesting to discuss today? Because the volcanic dust from the eruption made it to my town, Lhokseumawe.

Where is Sinabung Mountain?

Mount Sinabung is in the province of North Sumatra, precisely in the highlands of Karo land. Sumatra Island, Karo land itself has two well-known active volcanoes namely Mount Sinabung and Sibayak mountain, Sinabung has a height of 2,451 meters from sea level (MASL).

Not found records since 1600 AD which states that Sinabung erupted, Then in 2010 Sinabung suddenly erupted and resulted in many residents around who had to evacuate.

2010
Smoke and volcanic ash first appeared on August 27 and Sinabung reportedly released its first lava on August 29, causing 1 person to die of suffocation due to volcanic ash.

In 2010 on September 3, 04.45 (UTC +7), its first eruption after before in august and produced volcanic ash with a height of about 3 KM, then at 18.00 (UTC +7) Sinabung erupted again and triggered volcanic earthquake up to a radius of 25 KM.

2013
There were 4 eruptions on September 15-18, the eruption resulted in hot clouds and volcanic ash, this eruption made thousands of residents forced to evacuate and reported no casualties.

Sinabung activity increased in November, there are many eruptions that produce ash as high as 8 KM, as a result of volcanic ash cloud spreads up to a distance of 80 KM.

2014
Early January, there has been reported eruptions, earthquakes and continuous clouds glide. 20,000 residents have to be evacuated.

2016
Sinabung erupted again and issued a hot cloud on May 21, reported the disaster killed 7 people and caused 2 people suffered burns.

2018
Sinabung returned to a major eruption on February 19, the eruption reportedly occurred at around 08.53 (UTC + 7), the Head Post Sinabung Monitor stated that "the volcanic ash is high enough for 5 KM".
Some villages near Sinabung mentioned that in addition to the dense dust, villages are also exposed to small rocks carried by the wind.

Volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Sinabung this morning has reached the city of Lhokseumawe, whereas in some Sinabung eruptions before it does not happen, although still on a small scale, the fact can interfere with health.

Currently, the local government urges residents to use the mask as when out of the house.

WHAT IS ERUPTION?

The eruption occurs because of the pressure of a high-pressure gas that forces the sediment of magma out of the earth.

Eruptions produce volcanic gas, lava, rain stones and hot clouds come out when eruptions occur.

Eruption leads to many disadvantages to such life.

1. Toxic gases produced from eruptions can harm the lives of creatures
2. Health effects, such as respiratory disorders
3. Disabling economic activity
4. Destroying forest area
5. and so on.

Volcanic eruptions can also have such positive effects.

1. Establishment of new forest ecosystem
2. Land/soil around the mountain area that experienced more fertile eruption
3. and so on.

What are the characteristics of the mountain that will erupt.

1. Increased temperatures around the mountain, and resulted in wilting plants and springs will dry up
2. There is a continuous earthquake with a small scale
3. Animal instinct, animals begin to migrate out of mountain areas

Mount Sinabung is a type of active volcano, the year 2010 is the first eruption Sinabung since 1600 AD and still continues until today.

On February 19, 2018, Sinabung erupted again and escorted volcanic ash to the city of Lhokseumawe which is more than 260 km away.
Currently, residents who are in the vicinity of Mount Sinabung has been evacuated to a more secure area, and hopefully, this disaster quickly passed.

We will pray that there will be no casualties caused by this disaster if it is possible for me and some volunteers to try to distribute aid to the victims of Mount Sinabung eruption.
