I often hear people say to someone who is acting up or doing something against morales and standard, that they are acting like animals. Animals in many instances are more humain than some humans. I like the part where you are talking about the ants and them nursing each other. We can learn something from that. Where I am from, helping an injured person happens less than you would expect. Often you see people turning a blind eye on this. Quite sad.
Breaking away from purely instinctive behaviour has been largely to the detriment of our society. The things we do for fun, unnecessary conquest and general greed can be rather atrocious, and non existent in the rest of the natural world... ah well not much we can do about it!
