About law, but not only for lawyers :)

in #science6 years ago (edited)

There is a phenomenon that we can observe in many areas of human life – the religion of the book. Similarly, there is an equivalent concept in the law – the religion of the codex. In the analysis of cases and people involved in them, lawyers tend to put the word of the codex first. Nevertheless, being a lawyer should mean more than that – it should implicate being able to look at the people with sympathy and empathy, not just as a product of law.

Being a lawyer involves moving beyond the text of the codex, which is essentially what distinguishes a human from a computer. Although a computer can work faster and more effective than a human, it always chooses the most average option, while a human who has the capability of experiencing empathy and expressing sympathy is able to take the risk of moving beyond the text.

But how to become a good lawyer?
What skills does a successful lawyer need?
Is there any difference between a good lawyer and a successful lawyer? Or is it the same?
What do you think about it?

Have a nice day :)

That depends on your definition of "good lawyer" and "successful lawyer".

And that depends on answering the question "what is morally right and what is morally wrong".

And here we are writing a philosophical book in one comment.

The question is bit broad, isn't it? =)

hi :) that's why I asked about your definition :) The question is broad, I totally agree, but I think this is better than question with answers 'yes' or 'no'.
We often think that it's hard to talk about law because it always depends on our morality, but it doesn't mean that we shoudn't do it :)
