It turned out that the First Dark Englishman was Dark
Most of us know that English is predominantly white. In fact, scientists found the first modern British to have "dark to black" skin.
This is revealed by the discovery of a body of 10,000 years old. This is the oldest complete skeleton in England, known as Cheddar Man, discovered more than a century ago at Gough's Cave in Somerset.
His DNA examination had never been done, along with the fossil reconstruction of the face, indicating that the young man had darker-than-expected skin, with blue eyes and dark curly hair.
