Firstly lets briefly look how automobile was originated.
According to research francois isaac de rivaz designed the first car powered by internal combustion engine & fueled by hydrogen.
Siegfried marcus also built the first gasoline powered two circle(stroke) engine in 1870. Then in 1880 four circle(stroke) gasoline powered engine was introduced with an ingenious carburetor design and magneto ignition. The similar four stroke diesel engines was invented by rudole diesel in 1890's(dats the first diesel engine made)
diesel engines has variety of designs some are two strokes while some are four strokes circle. They were originally used as a more efficient replacement for a stationary steam engines. Since the year. 1910's they were best used four submarine's, locomotive's, heavy trucks, ships and electricity generation plant.
After producing the model "A" which is equipped with gasoline engine in the year 1903
Model "T" took over from 1908 which later became the first mass produced automobile
model "T"
During the 19th century many attempts were made to produce practical steam vehicles such as better steering, multi speed transmission and brakes
Model "E" was introduced.

Then the working principles cars engine uses in presently now still has a copy of the old design but are more advanced, powerful and efficient. Car engines are equipped with many fundamental parts working together as a unit. For instance we have
engine block with four cylinders

crankshaft

cylinder head which is also known as "top"

connecting rods

pistons

spark plugs

fuel injectors

intake and exhaust valves

intake and exhaust cam shafts

Then timing belt or chain. These are the basic internal components of an engine.. they all function with a timing ratio. Next will be all about the external components and its primary functions
