Human evolution - Homo antecessor [part.9]

Homo antecessor is estimated to live between 1.2 million years ago to about 800 thousand years ago. Discovered by Eudald Carbonell, Juan Luis Arsuaga and J. M. Bermúdez de Castro. At least 780,000 years old, the findings from Sierra de Atapuerca, Spain make it the oldest hominid found in Europe, and possibly between H. erectus and H. heidelbergensis. Some suspect antecessor equals H. heidelbergensis.

The distinctive feature of the antecessor found in the center of the face is very modern, but other parts such as teeth, forehead and eyebrows are much more primitive. Their height ranges from 1.6 to 1.8 m, weighing about 90 kg (adult males), with brain volume ranging from 1000 to 1150 cc. Presumably they are more mature than modern humans.

* And no wonder, if HY claims this is a 'completely modern' fossil find, even though modern is actually only the center of the face, while other features are still primitive.
