RE: As the Worm Turns
What a delightful response. I haven't seen Swiss Army Man, but that looks great, the kind of thing I watch when I need a break. You're right about H.G.--never thought of it and he was a favorite author from early on. I love science fiction--quality science fiction. Books, movies, doesn't matter.
Thanks for finding my essay on worms interesting. I started from sort of a zero knowledge base and then taught myself. In a way, I think it's easier to explain to other people when you're not a specialist. Also, I approach the subject with amazement, and that may come through.
Overall, this was an unexpected positive response to an essay many would not consider reading. Steemit is indeed a unique environment.
I'm having a good day :)
Oh I love science fiction! PKD's probably my favorite for some reason.
Yeah some people might not consider reading, but it's not a reflection of the quality but rather the length and 'what do I have to gain from it, my comment is not gonna get upvoted by a whale' etc. Plus there's so many things being written, it's hard to get noticed sometimes.
Before I responded to this I wanted to find a copy of the most dreadful rejection letter PKD received. Best I could do was this description of the wall surrounding his desk: "...in a corner of the room above his desk he had glued the many rejection slips he had gotten over the years". A fuller description is here. It's amazing what we would have lost if he'd listened to these critics.
