Using Feynman Technique, to Master Any Topic Quickly

in #science6 years ago

In this fast-paced era, we want to learn everything easily and quickly. So we are not left behind and stay updated with the latest developments in science.

Thus let's get acquainted with Feynman technique. This simple technique will help us learn fast for any topic.

Feynman Technique

Feynman's technique is a technique of learning as if it were to teach it to others. Simply write a note that seems to be read by others with a simple and easy to understand delivery. This technique is named after a physicist famous for his insanity in conveying physics, Richard Philip Feynman. First described in the biography book "Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman" written by James Gleick in 1993.

Feynman was the greatest physicist after Einstein's time, he won the 1965 Nobel Prize in physics and was called an eccentric physicist and could bring every complicated topic of physics into an interesting one. In his book, Gleick explains how Feynman mastered physics very well and how he conquered his exam material at Princeton University.

Here are four steps we must take to learn Feynman's quick technique:

Select the material we want to learn and note the key points

The first step we take is to choose what materials or things we want to learn. Choose one material and focus first on learning it. The more focused and specific we will learn the better. Then look for a reliable source or reference material. This material is very important because it is effective, whatever the method we use if the material is not good the results that we can also not be maximized. This material we can search through books, videos, articles or anything we like. If necessary we ask the people who have mastered in that field. Learn, then grab a paper to write down the key points of what you learned.

Write it like someone else's

All we need to do is write down what we learn, then make a note as if we write it for others to read so that the person understands what we write. Pretend we are going to teach the little boy, which will force us to understand the material in full and keep it simple. Focus on using simple words. Do not limit us, challenge ourselves to explain it in depth as well (keeping it simple).

Repeat if you do not understand

If we have difficulty in doing the second point above, review the references we use or we can also do this by understanding the case examples or doing the exercises. Learn again until we really understand and can explain in our own language. Then do the previous step back, do until all the material we learned we have understood from beginning to end.

Then, simplify

As Einstein said:

If you can not explain it simply. You don't understand it well enough

The essence of this technique is to simplify and understand something with our own language style. We can not simplify things if we do not really understand that. Simplify and continue to train ourselves to explain the material we just understood to others. With this technique, we can learn a lot more things faster.

Disclaimer

Learning is an ongoing process that must be routinely done to get the best results. This Feynman technique helps us to improve the effectiveness of each learning process. But if we just read it once, yes it certainly remains difficult to understand.

Good luck.....
