The African voice

Lying under the stars, on a cycling safari in Botswana , you don't so much hear a lion's roar so much as you feel it. It is that one voice that is the definition of fearsome – a primeval, sensation that seem to comes at you through the ground and blesses you briefly with the knowledge that you are truly alive...
This is especially true if that voice comes in the dead of night, in the middle of the African wilderness while your lying in a sleeping bag, even if you are told the pride is 2km away . The roar seems to run through then low lying misted and rattle your bones..
