Its magic comes from a thin layer of piezoelectric film inside the mat. Every bend of the film induces a very faint eletrical impulse. so when my heart beats or I take a breath, it shakes the mattress a tiny bit, this is detected by the piezo. Some algorithm of Withings then tries to translate the electrical impulses back to beats and breaths. This is nothing new, but they seem to have optimized it.

So, you had to lay a screen of film all over the lower part of the mattress? How big was it?

the film is inside a mat, its size is 637 mm* 190 mm *5 mm

source: withings Will now go and produce moar data with that thing xD :D

Goodnight <3 And sweet dreams. Did you place that thing under your mattress?

(I guess, in a few years this feature will be included by default inside within every premium mattress sold)
