Exploring Tekesi, Gongliu, Kuerdening, and Yining via Public Transport

in #sceneryyesterday

Today, we hitched a ride with a fellow traveler we met yesterday to reach Kuerdening. Below, I’ve outlined both the route I followed and the public transportation options available:

My Route:

Tekesi → (Hitched a ride) Kuerdening → (Entrance fee: 30 CNY/person) Kuerdening Scenic Area → (Asked for a ride; if there’s space: 50 CNY/person) Gongliu → (Route bus: 50 CNY/person) Yining
Public Transport:

Hotel → (Taxi, 5 CNY) Tekesi Bus Station → (Route bus/coach, confirm price) Gongliu Bus Station → (Coach/shared car, shared car approx. 20 CNY/person) Kuerdening Scenic Area Entrance → (Entrance fee: 30 CNY/person; shuttle bus: 30 CNY/person; available from June 1) Shuttle Bus Terminal → (Hike) Viewing Platform → (Shuttle bus) Scenic Area Entrance → (Shared car) Gongliu → (Shared car) Yining
Suggestions:
Upon reaching Gongliu, it’s advisable to rent a car to explore Kuerdening. The area is ideal for self-driving, as public transport options are limited and inconvenient, especially during the off-season when route buses are unavailable. The grass in Kuerdening turns green quickly, so if you’re visiting in May, it’s worth including in your itinerary. Prices within the scenic area are quite reasonable.

Food Recommendations:

Lunch in Kuerdening: Stir-fried noodles with hot oil, 28 CNY/serving—delicious!
Dinner in Gongliu: Noodles for two, total cost: 37 CNY.
