Lessons I have learnt from David

Romans 8:31

....If God be for us who can be against us….. KJV

Bob Grass once said Faith is like music, thus, using it may cause a strain but in the end it grows stronger. David knew this, so though he always got into trouble he never lost his faith in God’s promises. In Psalm 4:3 he said ‘But I know that the Lord hath set apart, him that is godly for Himself; the Lord will hear when I call unto Him.

David was a fearless being, even when he was as young boy; he dared to chase a bear that snatched one of his fathers’ sheep. He chased after it and rescued the lamb. He had peace of mind even when things were falling apart, ‘’I will both lay me down in peace and sleep for thou only makes me dwell in Safety”, he declared when the Philistines captured him. He refused to be rattled. His prayer was ‘what time I am afraid, I trust in thee.’ In whatever situation David found himself, he always looked up to God for solace. As he hid in the cave to safe his neck from Saul, David cried out ‘be merciful unto me. God… in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be over past.’

I know what fear can do to a man. The first time I was granted interview on a live radio programme for about 15 minutes. I was totally not myself, I lost composure and I couldn’t even use my diction anymore when I was responding to questions hauled at me by the presenter. I could neither sleep at night nor enjoyed the meals I was served that day.

Today my story is different because I got to know that the Lord is the shade upon my right hand and as such sun cannot smite me by day, nor the moon by night. Moreover, the Lord has promised that He will be with me.

Lessons about David

1.David was a great man of faith.
2.He did not only have faith, he operated by faith
3.David never allowed any situation that he saw himself in get him depressed.
4.He trusted God in totality to deliver him out of any condition or situation.

Prayer

Thank you Father because with you on my side, I have the assurance that I can never loose.
Lord help me to emulate the faith of David and the heart of calmness and peace of mind.
