Does Anyone Know What's Up With SBD?
Today, my Coin Stats app notified me that SBD was up +300%. This is something that has been going on for a couple of days now. I received a notification that SBD was up to $3.10 two days ago and as someone who was holding 500 SBD waiting for the day it would pump, I withdrew immediately from @blocktrades only to be surprised when I in fact was only trading somewhere around the $2.00 mark. Yes, that was quite upsetting. It happens I suppose.
Today we see some places reporting SBD at $7.55 yet blocktrades nor steem.supply is showing anything close to this. What is going on? Why is there such a drastic difference in prices? Is this due to one exchange pumping and dumping? Anyone care to help me understand?

HitBTC exchange wallets not allowing deposits or withdraws so all SBD on their exchange is locked in. Since you cannot take your SBD in or out, the existing market orders buy and sell to eachother until all orders are filled, in this case, there were more buy orders than sell orders so the price went up. All SBD at this price is locked in the exchange wallets, you can't trade it.
In conclusion, the price is showing higher than actual because one of the exchanges wallets are not working right now.
Really awesome signature at the end, my brain lights up when I read my own name also lol.
Both Steem and SBD wallets are "in maintenance" mode in HitBTC. And it has been this way for ages.
Thanks for clearing this up @doctorspence
And yes... Our names are pretty awesome 😏
looks like it's 2 specific markets pumping things.... HitBTC and Liqui...at least in my app that's the markets it lists. whereas poloniex and bittrex are the "real" price.
I didn't even know about the markets feature in coin stats! Guess I should have looked harder. Thanks @gyrosean!
Coinmarketcap has a Maintenance problem. it's not an original price
