Being real, it bums me out quite a bit when I realize an author's intention when publishing an article. You can feel it too right? Sure the topic might be trendy or cool but it's extremely easy to tell when there's no substance, no soul. I don't like it when a blog is vacantly lacking a voice. Sure, I am also writing to get rewards, but I also want provide value at least equal or greater than what I receive!

There is always a deeper meaning to my writing as anyone's should be, and if you aren't trying to improve the world even a little bit—there is no point to being on Steemit. Everyone helps everyone.

To answer your question @hardaeborla, my roommate is actually a self-proclaimed master of being lazy. He works all day and when he is home, he plays video games. That's all. When I talk about being proactive in my approach, what I mean is that I take the first steps, instead of waiting for him to do something!

We are only human, people can and do take advantage of each other. He could take advantage, but he's in a situation where he doesn't want to. As humans, we also feel guilt. He knows and I know that I don't have to do any of these things, but I do and it helps him. I'm also happy to help because I want to, not out of spite nor looking for a return. Sometimes he asks me if he's doing enough haha. I set the atmosphere for quality, and quality is contagious. Because I understand that he is also a person, with his own life—I'm willing to go a little extra if it helps him have a better day. This way whenever I make any request of him, it's as easy as asking someone "How are you?" To him, and to me there is zero pressure.

He helps me not because I demand it, but because he genuinely wants to. It may seem like a strange reply, but I hope this answers your question.
