Mars May Become a Ringed Planet Someday
New York: Phobos, the largest moon of Mars, is slowly moving towards the planet and in 10 to 20 million years it will be very close to the planet. When approaching the planet, it will form the four rings of Mars like Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune. According to Indian-origin scientist of California University Tusshar Mittal and Benjamin Black, the purpose of this study was to know what happens when a moon moves closer to its planet.
But instead of ending their long, tumultuous relationship for good, this dramatic destruction may take Phobos and Mars to the next level: Phobos might just put a ring on it.
