When in August I told my friends to invest in bitcoin at $4000, they look at me like I tried to sell them a Moon, there wasn't only my prediction that by the end of the year it will be 10k, its not the end of the year and BTC is already above 12k. It is still early time to invest into crypto currencies, it will grow up to 100k by the end of 2108 and be half a million in 3-5 years.
Lets explain what is bitcoin and why you still can buy it.
When buying Bitcoin, you don’t have to buy a full bitcoin and can easily buy just part of it. In fact, the Bitcoin protocol does not really work with the unit bitcoin, but with a smaller unit, called satoshi. 1 bitcoin equals 100,000,000 (= 10^8) satoshi. So 1 satoshi (=10^-8 BTC) is the smallest amount you can send. Lets say, today my friend joined Coinbase using my referral link ( http://bit.ly/2Bknh7N ) and bought $100 worth of BTC,or ETH, or LTC and we both received 0.000824BTC = 82400 satoshi.
A bitcoin is only a number in a ledger, called the blockchain. When someone receives bitcoins, a transaction is added to their ledger which shows them as having received the bitcoins. When they send out bitcoins, a transaction is added to their ledger which shows them as having given away bitcoins. Transactions of ALL bitcoins, from the time they have been mined (nine years ago) are stored in blockchain.
Why bitcoin can worth half a million? Answer is in numbers: Total will be mined 21,000,000 BTC, by today we have mined 16,500,000 ( not exact, but very close). In 2020 we will have 18,000,000BTC mined. If by then 1BTC cost $10,000,000 then 1 satoshi will cost $0.1, we can still use ten cents today, right?
So, yes, it’s 100% possible to buy less than one bitcoin, how much it will cost no one knows, but it is the future of world economy. No, not the bitcoin is the future, blockchain is and other coins, you will be able to buy, using bitcoins.
